Miss Angela
Frog, Lady Bug & Monarch Teacher

Hello there!  I am Angela Saunders, the Frog, Ladybug and Monarch classes teacher.  I love teaching kids and I am so happy to be a teacher at South Colby Cooperative Preschool.  I started teaching in 2008 in various grades in Washington, Hawaii and South Carolina. I got my BA in Elementary Education with concentrations in Special Education and American Sign Language at Weber State University.  I went to Weber on a full ride scholarship in basketball and also competed on the track team.  Then went on to teach in South Carolina, Hawaii and came back home to Washington.  Along with teaching, I have also coached basketball and track teams.  I grew up going to school in the South Kitsap School District so I am really happy to be in my home town raising my children here.  I took a break from teaching to be a stay at home mom with my two beautiful children.  I love kids and I want to help them become life long learners and for them to believe in themselves because once they do that, the sky's the limit.
Miss Melissa
Frog, Lady Bug & Monarch
Assistant Teacher
HELLO! I am Melissa Pothier and assistant teacher for the Ladybug and Monarch classes here at South Colby Cooperative Preschool. I first came to this school three years ago as a co-op parent with my son who has since moved on to elementary school. I am proud to now be a team member here at SCCP!

I began my teaching career in 2004 after graduating from Western Washington University with a BA in Art Education and Teaching Certification. Later I also earned my Masters in Teaching from Grand Canyon University, and Professional Teaching Certificate from Seattle University. I taught as an art specialist for students K-8 in Renton and Seattle for 9 years before leaving my position to stay home with my son in 2013.

Currently I reside in Kitsap County with my husband, son, pug, and two cats. As a family we love fishing, traveling to Leavenworth and the Oregon Coast, watching movies, and listening to records. Besides teaching I also enjoy reading, antique/thrift shopping, printmaking, painting, knitting/crochet, baking, and sewing.

As a teacher I think it is important to encourage students’ interests and their excitement for learning. I am looking forward to incorporating my knowledge of the arts into the classroom, and help nurture their growth in all aspects of their education.

Miss Tracy
Bumblebee Teacher
Hello, my name is Tracy Sharp, and I am excited to join SCCP during the 2016-2017 year, teaching the Bumblebee class.  My background includes: teaching pre-school at ABC Daycare, running a daycare out of my home, a full-time nanny, past VP of the Orchard Heights PTSO, and Para Educator.  I cherished my time running the daycare out of my home, as it allowed me the flexibility to be home with my daughter, who is now 16 years old.

I will be celebrating my 20th wedding anniversary with my (very supportive) husband, Hugh this year. We have 3 children: Ken, CJ, and Faith.  I am a lifetime resident of Port Orchard, and love our community. I am also involved in Relay for Life. I have had various roles for the past 14 years, with the last 3 years as the Event Lead.

Teaching children is my passion, and I look forward to this opportunity.

Our Philosophy

Bumble Bee Class, Frog Class, Lady Bug Class and Monarch Class:
Our focus is emotional and social growth, encouraging and supporting children to have a voice... to be strong and independent both socially and emotionally. We teach academics and introduce concepts of reading, writing, math, art, physical activities, science and sign language in the afternoon PreK class. We do not believe preschool is a boot camp for kindergarten. We believe it is a safe environment for children to learn appropriate behaviors and began their academic journey with children's needs and interest in mind.
